Role

Second-Hand Mascot; Enemy of Ronald McDonald

Used From

1971-present

The Hamburglar (realhamburglar#9718) is a second-hand mascot of McDonald's and is the enemy of Ronald McDonald. His main objective in life is to steal McDonalds' supply of hamburgers. He was created in 1971 to replace Grimace as the hero character in kid-targeted McDonalds commercials. He is a pint-sized villain with a black hat, a black and white striped shirt, a black cape with yellow on the inside and a black mask. He even has his own strange catchphrase- "Robble robble".

History[]

The Hamburglar made his debut in 1971 as "The Lone Jogger", sporting a shirt with his nickname on it. In these commercials, The Hamburglar looked more like an extremely creepy old man. In 1985, The Hamburglar got red hair and appeared to be slightly younger. In The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald, Hamburglar got a new look, now looking skinnier, losing his cape, given sunglasses, and now wearing shorts and a leather jacket. A big change in Wacky Adventures is that he went to the good side and turned a new leaf. Some famous commercials featuring Hamburglar and Grimace talking to famous celebrities were aired in the 2000s.
